This draft online resource is intended to support teachers of years 1 to 8 as they provide instruction in phonological awareness (including phonemic awareness and phonics) and spelling.
The information is arranged in bands – new entrants to year 1, years 2 to 4, and years 5 to 8 – so that teachers can easily access specific help. It includes detailed references, which offer teachers specific guidance about evidence-based literacy practice.
The information about phonological awareness and the information about spelling are provided separately. Each part addresses these questions:
